The Vowels
 

The sixth vowel is again an "extended version" of the foregoing vowel. Therefore, the use of the upper bar or macron  is resorted to, making its symbol as shown above.  Clearly the vowel shown above stands for the sound of the letter A in the English word SCARE. In Kashmiri, the following words contain this sound:
